A Man I Know

the sun shines and the day is plentiful
with children at play and laughter bountiful
yet within the lurches of the scenic view
is a watchful eye that no one knew
covered in a cloud of unknown desire
that fills the lining with a string of wire
thoughts that take over the mind
strangled with the wire become intwined
rage is not the order of the day
soothing the skin, instead, the prey
uncontrolled and open to suggestion
the little minds that it can make an impression
the thoughts that swirl around and around
with the precious childrens sounds
it makes an unconcious notation
to get out of this situation
to up and flee the desire in thee
but to halt the need to just get free
the story that will be told
is one of so many years old
a day that came to the judgement stone
the bars that made one all alone
the day was dark and led with cold
but one day would pave paths of gold
time was spent well needed then
in a hardened place, a people pen
the hopes were that the help would embrace
in his mind, a lethal place
of thoughts of demonic bulging things
and with it, the light of life it would bring
and now we only wait to see
how harshly sentenced it affected thee
to bring him home to an old life
a string of love, his family, his wife
a will of strength he must now grow
to understand it is a hard line to tow
to deal with genes in a manner unseen
to live each day with a better dream
this is the life for this man I know
he can do better, in this life he will sow
the seeds of betterness to thee
to reap the rewards, better he will be.
